Background

I grew up in Canada, attending Queen’s University in Kingston for a BScH in evolutionary biology (1992 to 1997) and an MSc in animal physiology (1997 to 1999). After a brief hiatus, I moved to Australia to complete a BMBS at Flinders University in Adelaide (2002 to 2005), followed by general medical training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide (2006 to 2010), culminating in neurology training and a fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (2011 to 2012). Upon completing my training, I realized that I wanted to specialize in neurological therapies rather than a particular disorder, and yet no such fellowship existed. Thus, I took some time out from the mainstream medical system, travelling, working and volunteering in other countries, to learn about some therapeutic possibilities that I had never considered. Following this, I then re-entered the medical system and now work as a clinical and research neurologist in New Zealand.

Sincere regards, Matt.
